SEND ~ Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

Co-SENDCos: Mr C Orr > & Miss S White
The Special Educational Needs Faculty at South Molton Community College aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for pupils of all abilities. It offers support and guidance to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and bilingual pupils so that they may work towards their full potential. The SEND team run the Aspire 2 Learn facility which offers in-class support to pupils with learning needs so that they can progress in their normal lessons. Where appropriate, pupils are taught specific skills in small withdrawal groups for sessions such as literacy including Speech & Language therapy and Dyslexia intervention as well as additional numeracy to name but a few. Pupils are also supported in Homework clubs.

The Faculty also visits our feeder primary schools prior to the pupils transfer to ensure all appropriate support facilities are in place. Reciprocal arrangements are in place for primary visits to enable familiarisation of resources. Continuity of support is maintained through regular links with all SENDCo’s in the South Molton Learning Community.
