Our tribute to Pablo Picasso’s GUERNICA
Probably Picasso’s most famous work, Guernica is certainly the his most powerful political statement, painted as an immediate reaction to the Nazi’s devastating casual bombing practice on the Basque town of Guernica.
Guernica shows the tragedies of war and the suffering it inflicts upon individuals, particularly innocent civilians. This work has gained a monumental status, becoming a perpetual reminder of the tragedies of war, an anti-war symbol, and an embodiment of peace.
Mrs Southworth commented, that the year 10 art students spent time looking and discussing the symbolism in the work, and put together this fantastic version. We have shown the shattered lives, death and hopelessness of war.
But perhaps one ray of light brings hope from this atrocity, in the form of the lightbulb and its rays.
Our version of Guernica is dedicated to all those who have lost their lives during conflicts and wars.
Pictured is the original and our version.
