South Molton Christmas Tree Festival

Our Year 7 Enterprise students, Year 9 Textiles students and Form  D5 have been busy creating for the last few weeks and have made some Christmas tree decorations for the South Molton Christmas Tree Festival. The tree, with the SMCC purple and silver themed decorations, will be on display in St Mary Magdalene Church from Thursday 30th November to Monday 4th December. Our tree is Number 68 and is near the front of the church on the right hand side.

When the festival is over, we will bring the tree back to school and sell the decorations to raise money for charity.

Remembrance Day

A remembrance poppy wreath was laid in our memorial gardens as part of our whole school remembrance service. Pupils and staff observed a 2 minute silence as part of the service which was led by Mrs Beesley our Head of History and included poems written and read by students.
The college was also represented by staff and students at the South Molton Remembrance Service on Sunday.

SMCC Show Jumping Team news

Sunday 11th saw the second competition of the winter series of the North Devon Schools Show Jumping League; it was a character-building day!
Biting cold northerly wind and driving rain (and hail at times) didn’t make for fantastic riding conditions. SMCC Stars (Bathany Forster, Emily White, George Snell and Rachael Hoskins) came 4th in the 60cm Class. SMCC Hurricane (Josh Flanagan, Alice Milne, Charlotte Snell and Rachel Hoskins) won the 70cm class, with SMCC Storm (Jess Cumings, Lily Cronk, Fraser Boundy and Chloe Sanders) coming 5th. SMCC Storm also picked up 6th place in the 80cm Class. Lily Cronk was individually placed 3rd in the 90cm Class.
Despite harsh conditions, SMCC students rode with style, determination and kindness. Our students are, without fail, excellent sports men and women – they support and challenge each other as well as the competitors from other schools. Well done, SMCC Show Jumpers; we’re very proud of you.
