SMCC Supporting Success, Celebrating Achievement

Emily, Harriet, Sophie, Maya and Ruby, look a little stunned with their fantastic achievements.

SMCC Supporting Success, Celebrating Achievement 2018 has seen the students at South Molton Community College achieve another superb set of GCSE results.

Although under the new grading system it is difficult to compare this year’s results with previous years’, it is evident that progress made by students of all abilities at SMCC is the best ever. Our Progress 8 score, the progress made by students in 8 of the subjects they studied, is always good at the college, however this year it is set to be our best ever. This progress is testament to the hard work of our students and their determination to succeed. The new style GCSE exams and grading regime threw up many new challenges for everyone, however, the students have been superbly supported by their dedicated teachers in overcoming these.

As a college, we continue to go from strength to strength and we are proud of the educational experience that we offer. It has been fantastic to see the students developing, succeeding and now celebrating their achievements.
The Staff and Governors wish all of our students every success as they continue on their learning pathway.

Coast to Coast Wheely Long Walk achievement!

Congratulations to Mr Potter on completing his Coast to Coast Wheely Walk on Tuesday, over 110 miles whilst carrying an 18kg wheel strapped to his rucksack to raise funds towards the lease of a minibus for the Friends of South Molton Community College.

The  journey started on the last day of term (26th of July) in Mothecombe on the south Devon coast, up through Dartmoor and Exmoor to finished in Lynmouth on the North Devon Coast.

You can still support this great cause and we can get closer to achieving our goal of having a minibus for the benefit of the students of South Molton Community College. Huge thanks to all those who have already pledged.

The SMCC Show Jumping Team competed in the championships for the North Devon Schools Show Jumping League on Saturday.  As always, SMCC students gave it their all and showed real grit, determination and style! We had some truly fantastic results, including SMCC Storm, who came 2nd in the 70cm, 3rd in 80cm and WON the 90cm league. SMCC Storm also won the overall team supreme championship. Jess and Lily were both placed individually in the overall league as well as in the 70, 80, and 90 league championships. Fraser also was placed in the 90 league. The students won lots of amazing prizes and many rosettes. Every student who competed during the NDSSJL has represented SMCC beautifully – we’re so proud of every single one of them.

We’re sure the SMCC SJing Team will find even more success in 2018-2019.
