                              Term                Definition
                              Backward Pass       A pass that moves the ball toward your own goal line.

                              Knock-On            When the ball is dropped forward, resulting in a scrum for the opposition.

                              Try                 Scoring by grounding the ball in the opposition’s in-goal area.

                              Defensive Line      A line of defenders positioned across the pitch to stop the attack.
                              Ruck                A contest for the ball on the ground after a tackle.

                              Maul                A contest where the ball carrier is held up by opponents but remains on their feet.

                              Dummy Pass          A fake pass designed to mislead defenders.
                              Side-Step           A quick change of direction to evade a defender.
