PHILOSOPHY AND BELIEFS
(RELIGIOUS EDUCATION)
Examination Board: AQA Religious Studies A
“Be a free thinker and don’t accept everything you hear as truth.
Be critical and evaluate what you believe in” - Aristotle
We recognise the importance of inclusive, rigorous and relevant content,
which can help students develop acquire a better understanding of the role
that different religions and cultures play in today’s pluralistic and increasingly
globalised world. Our GCSE covers a range of the major world religions,
contemporary ethical themes and textual studies, ensuring students have a
diverse choice of intriguing subjects to explore. Students will be challenged
with questions about belief, values, meaning, purpose and truth, enabling
them to develop their own attitudes towards religious issues.
We follow the AQA exam board specification A. During the course the focus
will be on both the practical and ethical application of religious teaching
in the modern world. You will have five lessons per fortnight in school with
homework and additional reading as directed by your class teacher.
