Students will be challenged with questions about belief, values, meaning, purpose and truth, enabling them to develop their own attitudes towards religious issues. Students will also gain an appreciation of how religion, philosophy and ethics form the basis of our culture. They will develop analytical and critical thinking skills, the ability to work with abstract ideas, leadership and research skills. All these skills will help prepare them for further study.

• Pupils to gain a wider understanding of cultures and faith and how beliefs have shaped different cultures.  
• Develop skills of inquiry, analysis, to pique interest. To develop students awareness of British values as well as those of other cultures.  
• A wide and balanced look at World faiths e.g. Sikhism; Christianity; Islam. 
• Themes and topics affecting society e.g. racism; human rights; crime and punishment. 
• Pupils will develop skills to define, explain and evaluate the influence and impact of faith on individuals and groups.
