South Molton Community College is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and highly organised LRC & Marketing Manager to lead our communications, marketing and content creation activities while managing and developing our Learning Resource Centre. 

This is a unique opportunity to combine creativity, digital communications and student engagement in a role that sits at the heart of school life. You'll be responsible for telling the story of our school, celebrating student achievements, strengthening community engagement and creating a vibrant learning environment that promotes reading, literacy and enrichment. 

If you're equally comfortable creating engaging social media content, designing promotional materials, producing videos and developing opportunities for young people through reading and learning, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role 

As LRC & Marketing Manager, you'll play a central role in showcasing everything that makes our school special. You'll lead the creation of engaging content across multiple platforms while managing our Learning Resource Centre as a hub for reading, enrichment and student learning. 

No two days will be the same. One day you might be capturing footage from a school event, creating social media campaigns and updating the website; the next you could be running an event, supporting student librarians or planning promotional materials for an open evening. Your responsibilities will include: 

Marketing & Digital Communications 

- Managing and developing the school website 
- Creating engaging content across social media platforms 
- Producing photography, video and graphic content 
- Designing newsletters, prospectuses, promotional materials and displays 
- Supporting admissions, transition events and recruitment campaigns 
- Monitoring engagement and analysing communication performance 
- Promoting student achievements, events and school successes 
- Maintaining the school's brand identity and digital presence 

Learning Resource Centre Leadership 

- Leading the day-to-day management of the Learning Resource Centre 
- Developing a welcoming and inspiring learning environment 
- Managing library resources, systems and budgets 
- Promoting reading for pleasure and literacy development 
- Organising enrichment activities, competitions and reading events 
- Coordinating student librarians and leadership opportunities 
- Developing partnerships with external organisations and literacy networks 

Community Engagement 

- Supporting communication with students, families, staff and stakeholders 
- Promoting school events and community activities 
- Developing relationships with local organisations, employers and alumni 
- Helping strengthen the school's profile within the wider community 

Who We're Looking For 

We're seeking a creative professional who combines excellent communication skills with strong organisational ability and a genuine enthusiasm for education. You will: 

- Be an excellent writer and communicator 
- Have experience managing websites, social media or digital communications 
- Be confident creating content using photography, video and graphic design tools 
- Have strong ICT skills and experience using digital platforms 
- Be proactive, creative and full of ideas 
- Enjoy working with young people and supporting their development 
- Be highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects 
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, families and external partners 

Experience in marketing, communications, media, publishing, libraries, education or related fields would be highly advantageous. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, photography, videography or content creation platforms is particularly welcome.

About the Role 

As our Evening Site & Lettings Caretaker, you'll be responsible for helping maintain a safe, secure and well-presented school environment while ensuring community users enjoy a professional and welcoming experience. From preparing facilities for sports clubs and community groups to securing the site at the end of the day, you'll play a vital role in the operation of the school. Working independently for much of the evening, you'll be trusted to manage facilities, respond to issues and ensure the site remains safe and operational. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

Premises & Facilities 

- Supporting the maintenance and presentation of the school site 
- Undertaking minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks 
- Completing site inspections and statutory checks 
- Supporting contractors and monitoring site safety 
- Assisting with room setups, events and examinations 
- Maintaining site records and compliance documentation 

Community Lettings 

- Preparing facilities for evening and holiday bookings 
- Welcoming community users and providing excellent customer service 
- Supporting sports clubs, organisations and community groups using the site 
- Monitoring facilities and ensuring safe, appropriate use 
- Responding to enquiries and resolving issues professionally 
- Helping maximise the success of the school's community lettings programme 

Security & Site Management 

- Acting as a key holder and responding to alarms when required 
- Carrying out site security checks and lock-up procedures 
- Monitoring CCTV and responding to security concerns 
- Ensuring facilities are safe, secure and ready for the next school day
- Working confidently and safely during lone-working periods 

Who We're Looking For 

You may already work in caretaking, facilities management, maintenance, hospitality, customer service, leisure, security or a similar environment. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who: 

- Enjoys working independently and taking responsibility
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills 
- Is practical, organised and solution-focused 
- Can prioritise tasks and respond calmly to changing situations
- Is reliable, flexible and takes pride in their work 
- Is comfortable interacting with members of the public
- Has a commitment to maintaining safe and welcoming environments 
​- Previous experience in premises management, maintenance or community lettings would be an advantage, but we welcome applicants with transferable skills and a willingness to learn 

Knowledge and Skills 

- Understanding of basic building maintenance and site management practices.  â€‹
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements, including COSHH and safe systems of work.  
- Awareness of security procedures and lone working responsibilities.  
- Ability to undertake routine maintenance and minor repair tasks safely. 
- Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to operational issues. 
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills. 
- Ability to maintain accurate records and complete compliance documentation.  
- Competent IT skills, including the use of email, electronic booking systems and Microsoft Office applications.  
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and make sound judgements.  
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff, visitors and community users.

Working under the guidance of our Cleaning Supervisor, you'll help maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the school site. Your responsibilities will include: 

- Cleaning classrooms, offices, corridors and communal areas 
- Vacuuming, mopping and maintaining floors 
- Cleaning washrooms and replenishing supplies 
- Emptying bins and managing waste disposal 
- Using cleaning equipment safely and effectively 
- Reporting maintenance issues and health and safety concerns 
- Helping to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for everyone who uses the school 
- Full training will be provided where required.  

About You
